HyperLink On September 15th the Botkins FFA Chapter held their monthly meeting at the Botkins Fire Department. The meeting was called to order by President Lucas Buehler and the officers conducted opening ceremonies, Officer reports and new business followed. Then the members recessed the meeting and were welcomed to the Fire Department by Chief Pat Fullenkamp. Chief Fullenkamp encouraged the students to take advantage of the hands on activities provided by the fellow Botkins Fire Department firefighters. The FFA members took full advantage of the stations by learning how to work a fire extinguisher, try on firefighter gear and what it feels like to wear a fire fighter suit. In addition, members took advantage of the tours of the fire trucks how they worked and the gear the trucks had stored in them. Members also had the opportunity spray the fire hose and see firsthand the amount of pressure the water is coming out of the fire hoses. Firefighters also took time to demonstrate the safety the safety precautions they follow and the importance of staying safe during harsh conditions like firers.
